Children’s Ear, Nose & Throat Problems

I provide private children’s ENT care at Wrightington, Wigan & Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Unlike many private hospitals, which cannot safely treat younger children, this is one of the few centres in the North West able to offer specialist paediatric ENT within a full NHS hospital setting.

Your child is seen in a safe, hospital‑based environment by experienced paediatric teams, with facilities and safeguarding processes designed specifically for children. Families can feel confident their child is receiving expert, joined‑up and reassuring care.

    • Consultant-led private appointments: Fast access to expert assessment, scheduled to suit your needs.

    • Safe hospital-based surgery (age 2+): Operations take place in the NHS hospital with anaesthetic, paediatric and nursing support.

    • Joined-up care with other specialties: Close links to paediatrics, anaesthetics, audiology and allied teams for safe perioperative care and follow-up.

    • Continuity and experience: As a consultant ENT surgeon I treat all ages to the same high standards in both NHS and private settings.

    • Clear communication and family-centred care: As a parent of young children myself, I understand how stressful health concerns can be for families. My approach is calm, clear and supportive, with time to answer questions and guide you through each step of your child’s care.

  • I see children with a full range of common ear, nose and throat problems, including:

    • Tonsillitis and recurrent sore throats

    • Ear infections and ear pain

    • Glue ear (fluid behind the eardrum)

    • Eardrum perforations

    • Cholesteatoma

    • Snoring, noisy breathing at night and obstructive sleep apnoea

    • Nasal blockage and persistent runny nose

    • Tongue‑tie

    • Prominent ears

  • With extensive paediatric ENT training at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, I offer expert assessment and treatment for a wide range of children’s ear, nose and throat conditions.

As the Paediatric ENT Lead at Wrightington, Wigan & Leigh NHS Foundation Trust, I combine specialist skills, NHS experience and a child‑centred approach to provide safe, effective care for both common and more complex paediatric ENT problems.

  • Yes. I offer intracapsular coblation tonsillectomy, a modern technique that removes the tonsils using low‑temperature radiofrequency energy. Only the diseased tonsil tissue is removed, leaving a thin protective layer behind. This approach is associated with less pain, quicker recovery, and a lower risk of bleeding than traditional tonsillectomy, while still effectively treating recurrent infections and sleep‑disordered breathing.
